Christina from Chicago

This will be a narrative of my life in Chicago. For now it's a work in progress/experimental stage. I want to post pictures of different parts of Chicago, and write about different places. One month might be solely on Cafe's around Chicago, or Pastry shops, or underground book stores. I was born and raised in Chicago, so I will give you the worst, and the best of the city I call home.

Wanna holla? Got a question or request of what you want to see in Chi Town

“Andalous” is a Moroccan Restaurant in Chicago. It’s located on Clark and School. The prices for dinner range from $9-$15. It’s more of a cozy spot. Could be a place you can take your date to, or have a small party dinner at, or just a place to eat with a friend or two. It’s BYOB. I’ve been here twice already. Both times I came with my best friend Christy. She was the one who introduced me to the place. The specialty here would definitely be the mint tea. You don’t have to put any sugar in it, and they serve it in small shot glasses. I recommend it if you are up for something new, and something fresh.

Apartment finding…

Finding my old apartments that is. Just a (brilliant?) idea of taking pictures of the old places I stayed in, and maybe giving a story about them…

STAY TUNED!!

Chicago rooftops

I have a history with Chicago rooftops. When I used to live on 4744 N. Harding, we lived on the third floor and had access to the roof. I remember going up there with my brother and the first floor kids. I was scared of being up there. It was really hot, and it was one of those summer days, that there was nothing to do. So we decided to throw waterballoons from the roof at people below. I have no idea where my parents were. Maybe they were at work. I must have been 13 years old.

I guess it’s cool to hang out on rooftops. Whenever I went to a party, and if there was access to the roof, you’d bet everyone was on that rooftop. I am glad that I am saved, and that I don’t go to parties anymore. I sometimes miss them. That’s usually %10 of the time. For the most part, I would rather not go to a party. I don’t talk to anyone I did 2 years ago. I used to go to parties all the time. Which means that I used to get drunk a lot. I can’t imagine going to a party and getting drunk. When I got born again, whenever I got drunk (that tree was still planted in me) I would always talk about God. It never failed. God was and is so in me, that I would try to evangelize while drunk.

Of course that is out of order, and so I am here. Sober, and loving every minute of it.

But yea rooftops. They are fun. Sometimes.

North Park University. Was walking around there on Sunday night. My best friend DJ graduated from there. It’s a very liberal Christian University.

This is the CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) system. We have 8 lines I believe, that is train systems.
1.The Brown Line (which goes from Albany Park to the Loop)
2. The Blue Line (goes from O’hare Airport to Forest Park)
3. The Orange Line (goes from Midway Airport towards the loop)
4. The Purple Line (goes from Evanston into the loop)
5. The Green Line (goes from Oak Park into the loop, and then towards Engel Wood)
6. The Pink Line (goes the loop to Little Village and passed 54th)
7. The Yellow Line (goes from Skokie into the Howard stop)
8. The Red Line (goes from Howard station, all the way to 97th/Dan Ryan)
So these trains go pretty far south, north, a bit west, and a bit east. I scanned this from my Moleskine Chicago. I live close to the Brown Line, and shy from the Blue line. Normally if I take the train to work, I take the brown line. It drops me right off.
